If you've been wondering if there's a simple way to disable a USB port, you're in luck. It's not too complex, and of course it's always nice to achieve a small victory over Windows XP. It's a good enough OS, but completing small tasks like these can be slightly more difficult.

If you read on, I'll explain how to do it - it doesn't take long, and if you're looking for a quick fix in between work, your desire to Play on FoxyBingo.com, this is the fix for you. So onto the solution - we're people that tend to work at 120mph, so I'll make this as quick and easy as I can.

On my new job at COMTECH, aside from teaching they put me on the computer laboratory as their maintenance. Lab is installed with Windows XP Home edition and other software but i will be migrating some computer to Edubuntu sooner or later. For the meantime I've tweak some on the registry of Windows Enable/Disable the USB port just to control student from inserting the memory stick:

On the registry:

Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentContolSet > Services > USBSTOR

Choose the Start Modify the value data 3 to 4 Hexadecimal

3= Enable

4= Disable

IBM DEVELOPERWORKS LIVE TECHNICAL BRIEFING
****************************************************************************

Imagine you are part of global team of developers with offices in multiple countries spanning several time zones. Or you are part of a small, local team divided by differing work schedules or department affiliations. In either case, you collaborate with analysts, architects, developers, testers and other subject matter experts separated by time, distance or organization. What type of infrastructure would help you do your best work, both individually and as a team?

The Jazz technology platform is designed to answer these needs.
DeveloperWorks Live Technical Briefing
24 June 2008, Cebu International Convention Center,
Leadership Room 103, 1:00 – 4:30 PM

Maintain your edge of knowledge; feast your eyes on a whole new level of openness.

Uniquely attuned to distributed teams, the Jazz platform is designed to transform how people work together to build software—making software delivery more collaborative, productive and transparent. The Jazz platform combines people-, project- and process-awareness with automation to make team-based development more productive and enjoyable.

Jazz is innovation, team, community, vision, and an open, real-time, pluggable collaboration framework for the next generation of distributed software delivery tools for teams small to large. Jazz takes software delivery from "desktop integration" to "lifecycle integration," from "function first" to "team first," from "manual" to "process-aware and transparent."

Rational Team Concert (RTC) is the first IBM product based on the Jazz technology platform. RTC includes an enhanced Eclipse development environment and a Web 2.0 web portal, both of which provide collaboration, process enforcement and increased transparency into software delivery efforts.

RTC includes integrated work item, source control and build management support. It will give agile teams the experience of a highly collaborative development environment, optimized for small and medium-sized teams. RTC will make it easy to exchange information directly in the context of the work you are doing.

Don't miss the opportunity to be ahead of the pack! Learn how IBM is providing transparent, collaborative customer participation in the development of new Rational technologies through an open commercial community.
