Once again teh Xavier University is again celebration the 2nd Quantum and Information Technology Convention on January 23-25, 2009 at Cagayan De Oro City.

About
:

QITC is an acronym for Quantum and Information Technology Convention—an innovation of two ground-breaking activities of the two well-recognized organizations of Xavier University united to accomplish a common goal.

The Quantum

Quantum is a tradition of Xavier Computer Enthusiasts' League (XCEL) of Xavier University since 1994. It is a pure competition participated by different schools in Mindanao. Its main objectives are to test the level of knowledge and literacy of high school students on Computer and Information Technology, and to develop a science and technology culture among the youth.

Quantum is composed of two segments. First are the MS Paint and the Photoshop Competition which will be participated by one grade school and one high school student as representatives of each school. Second is the Quiz Show which is exclusive for high school students consisting of two bona fide students from each school.

The IT Convention

The City-Wide IT Convention of the Ateneo Information Management Society (AIMS) started in the year 2002 and will commemorate its 6th year of gathering the IT students of Cagayan de Oro City not just to test their competence but to guide them with additional knowledge and develop their skills in Information Technology.

This is usually a two-day and one-night activity which comprises of sessions and discussions on IT-related topics with distinguished resource speakers. Fellowship or social night is usually held in the evening with delightful performances from the delegates. Giving out of certificates to the delegates wraps up the convention.

The QITC

With this year's theme: "Enriching Mindanao IT Enthusiasts for Global Competence", QITC is about learning how to dramatically improve the productivity and quality of IT Management. It's about leveraging lessons from experts on best practices.
The convention focuses on practical day-to-day good practices for IT development throughout organizations. This year's convention emphasizes on building a new foundation for all IT enthusiasts where they can gather together to create innovations through Information Technology. This seminar presents real life activities in a more streamlined and practical manner to continuously help and improve the IT organization.

Invitation:

We are pleased to inform you that Xavier Computer Enthusiasts' League (XCEL) and Xavier University – Ateneo Information Management Society (XU-AIMS) of Xavier University– Ateneo de Cagayan will be holding its second Mindanao-wide Quantum and Information Technology Convention (QITC) on January 23-25, 2009 at Marco Hotel, Alwana Business Park, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. The theme of the said event is "Enriching Mindanao IT Enthusiasts for Global Competence."

The QITC is an event that aims to gather I.T. enthusiasts from different schools in Mindanao to converge and interact with one another. It is an event not just to test their competence but to guide them with additional knowledge and develop their skills in Information Technology. There will also be competent and experienced speakers from Smart Communications, Inc., International Open Source Network ASEAN+3 Sub-Regional Node, and Syntactics Inc. who will talk about informative and useful IT-related topics.

We will also be holding our annual Quantum Inter-school Quiz Show and Photoshop competition for the high school level, and MS Paint for the grade school level. This event will be a great opportunity for the students to meet the participants from other schools who have the same interests as them. Moreover, this competition will not only aim to see the best among the participants, but will also foster camaraderie among different schools through the use of Information Technology.
