Typhoon Sendong (international codename: Washi) whacked Northern Mindanao, Philippines, letting loose colossal floods across vast areas that left, according to official tally, 278 people dead (and still counting) and nearly 200 others missing in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, and in some towns of Misamis Oriental.
Thousands are in the evacuation centers, many are women and childen--hungry, chilling, crying.
